Occasional Verse

Many years ago I showed some of my verse to a famous professor of poetry at a well known University in Melbourne. He dismissed them as Vers d’Occasion and of minimal worth. (Scorn always sound so much better in French, don’t you think?) I read some of his work and could make nothing of it. Therefore I deduce that I am not a poet; and these verses are not poems. From that day forward I have referred to my stuff as “Occasional Verse”.

Meeting Paris: A Book of Poetry

Kristie hopes in this book to share with her readers the aspects of Paris that left a mark on her.

About the Author

As an enthusiastic student and admirer of life and nature, Kristie developed an enduring love for poetry, drawn in by the boundless and unique ability to express intense observations and emotions.

Kristie was born and raised in Newcastle, Australia, but has spent most of her adult life to date as a lawyer in Sydney. The opportunity to express words more poetic than legal came about when she was fortunate to spend a large part of a year living in Paris. Captivated by the culture of Paris with all its charm, artistry and vigour, whilst also struck by its malaise, Kristie was inspired to give voice to the people, to the inanimate and to the sensations she encountered.

Her favourite places to write were in the local bistros and by the river, cheese, baguette and wine in hand where possible.

When not writing, Kristie is a part time piano player book and science devotee, beach creature and unabashed flaneur.

This is Love

We die for it, we sacrifice for it, we wander the earth in search of it. But what is love really? A collection of poems inspired by love. Love for ourselves, for our Creator, and for those around us. For what are we, but beings designed by Love, and commissioned to Love.

Authentic and real, these poems go deep into the heart of identity and self-worth to discover who we are and the Love that surrounds us everyday.

Sail Away

A collection of maritime themed poems and short stories, accompanied by the authors photography and the artwork of John Ford and Jamie Comyn (mum).

About the Author

To date, I have spent seven and a half years on the ship, obtained my coxswains and master 24< tickets, working as a watch leader, bosun or both. Currently work at the Australian Maritime And Fisheries Academy as bosun and teacher’s assistant. Can honestly say, following my passion has been the most rewarding and fulling thing I have ever done. You haven’t lived if you haven’t followed your heart, come what may. The world is an amazing place, and so is humanity. Teaching and helping people.

Volunteering (giving of yourself is the biggest gift you can give someone or something). And, doing all this on a tall ship platform, at sea, is amazing.

I have Asperger’s Syndrome (Autism Spectrum). But I didn’t let it stop me from growing and achieving. Without it, I wouldn’t think in the unique way that I do, as it contributes to who I am, but isn’t who I am. I hope that you have enjoyed this book as much as I have enjoyed writing it, and the experiences that went into its making.

Seize the day.
