Annabel’s Mum

Based on the real journey of a young mother diagnosed with cancer during the pregnancy of her second child. This story highlights the feelings of change and uncertainty from the perspective of Annabel – just a toddler at the time of her Mum’s diagnosis. However, it also celebrates the excitement and gift of new life and pays homage to memories of the people we love.

This book may help a child to understand that although many changes occur when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, the child is still important; the child remains safe, loved, and will forever be connected to their loved one.

Annabel’s Mum is aimed at families with young children, aged 2-8, but can be enjoyed and appreciated by all ages. It is an excellent resource for primary schools to use in social and emotional wellbeing programs such as ‘Seasons for Growth‘ (by Good Grief) as children explore the topics of change, loss, and grief.

Take it On

Lucy was diagnosed with cancer when she was just 6 years old. “Take it on” written by Lucy herself details her journey and is intended to help other young people who may be starting their own journey, what they can expect to feel and experience along the way.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Lucy.
I was diagnosed when I was 6. Before I knew I had cancer, I was feeling very sick in the mornings and would vomit. After that, I would be fine. I found out I had cancer after I had a CT scan, which was done in a big loud donut shaped machine.
Have you had one of them?
Through this new journey, it’s ok to feel scared; I know I was! Lots of things are going to change, but just remember there are lots of people around you who can help and explain any questions you may have. My family, including my Mum, Dad and Brother were always there for me no matter what, and still are today.
So… Do whatever you can to beat this monster! I know you can do it; after all, this is your journey.

The Seven Stories we tell Ourselves

Through all the events of our lives, we take the “facts” and arrange them into narratives that we tell ourselves.

Did you know we only have 7 basic stories from which to create these narratives?

And you can choose your narrative. But there are consequences
to the narrative that we tell ourselves. Each narrative has a pathway to resolution, a direction we must take. Each narrative can either serve us or hinder us in finding contentment and control in our lives. We can choose our narrative actively and therefore have control over our lives or we can allow ourselves
to choose subconsciously and accept the consequences of this.

The Seven Stories We Tell Ourselves provides a framework for understanding how we are telling our stories to ourselves.
It shows us the alternatives available for us to change our narratives and how we must proceed within our lives toward resolution of our daily conflicts and struggles. It is filled with inspiring stories and examples as well as tools to help us become the captain of our own ship, to be in charge of our own lives and to LIVE CONSCIOUSLY.

Crushing Crohn’s

Some people view chronic illnesses like Crohn’s as a lifelong prison sentence.
Initially, I, too, shared that belief. I was dealt a bad medical hand at the age of eighteen and had to ‘shuffle the deck’ in my favour. In time, I discovered actions that led to a life free of medication. It’s highly unusual to hear of someone who has defeated severe Crohn’s disease and wrote a book about their experience – not that one should brag about their bowel habits or any other ritual that involves a toilet. Years of trial and error led to six simple principles that apply to crushing Crohn’s and reaching your goals. This book shares my journey with the reader, from symptoms, diagnosis, experimentation, to remission. It’s time to turn the tide and wake up to our inflammatory world. A change is coming, and it all starts with what we put in our mouths.
