Why Me

Dealing with grief

This book tells the true story of how the author used his Christian Faith to reassure and guide him through the time of his deepest grief following the premature death of his wife and mother of their six children.

This yellow Hibiscus represents Doris’ favourite colour. I picked a fresh flower each day, to put at her bedside in the vase shown in the picture. On one occasion, when wondering if there were flowers in Heaven, I looked up to see the sky filled with flowers. This must have been the answer!

Consciousness and Biology

A Theology of Transformation for the 21st Century

Consciousness and Biology is for passionate atheists as well as passionate believers. It explores a new way of understanding the radical message of Jesus which is not only compatible with the ideas of modern science – but is also deeply honest about the human condition, radically progressive and ultimately hopeful.

It starts with the idea that, whatever else we might be, we are biological organisms who have evolved over a period of four billion years through a process of natural selection. We are also, however, biological organisms who now experience a threshold level of consciousness. A level of consciousness which not only allows us to observe the world around us – but also to observe ourselves. Our human level of consciousness provides us with the capacity to transcend our biological heritage. To choose behaviours which are an expression of Intentionality, Creative Freedom and Connectedness. An expression of Spirit.

These emerging modern ideas can not only be used to re-imagine the central ideas of Christianity. They can also be used to reimagine the ideas of other spiritual and religious traditions. These emerging modern ideas point towards the possibility of a universal way of understanding our human experience of Spirit. An understanding centred around the idea of Transformation rather than Justice.

Time Warp

A Saga of Family

Warning: this account is not for the faint hearted.

Within the contents of this book, there is much to disturb and horrify. Conversely, it is a vehicle to uplift and encourage. Whilst it lays bare the depths of human depravity, it clearly models heights of human courage and endurance. The recount shines a light on the devil, Satan, but only to demonstrate he is a defeated potentate, powerful as he undoubtedly is to deceive and corrupt.

This book also celebrates the dedication and expertise of medical and dental practitioners who study and labour towards healing, providing their patients relief from suffering. But first and foremost, completely and unashamedly, the purpose of this document is to testify to the living reality, tender compassion and miracle working power of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The narrative constructed through transcribed diaries from 2007 – 2013 discloses evidence of the phenomenon currently termed Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The author was previously in error when consigning references to ‘multiple personalities’ to the realm of fantasy.

‘For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God… not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2: 8 – 10)

The Baptism of General Butt Naked

AND OTHER INCREDIBLE STORIES FROM THE LIFE OF AUSTRALIAN FAITH BASED MISSIONARY EVANGELIST DOUG WILLIS.

This inspiring book contains incredible events experienced by Doug Willis that testify to God’s providence, provision and protection during his 60 years of missionary and evangelistic ministry.

The things shared in this book took place during his ministry in Australia and 40 other nations around the world. Each story is intricately woven around a lifetime passion of seeking to win the lost to Christ.

What makes these accounts more amazing is the fact that his crusades, seminars and world tours were all paid for from unsolicited funds freely given by God’s children. In declining to receive a salary, God provided for Doug’s family; for his ministry expenses and for his personal needs—for this reason many know him as a faith missionary.

The author has compiled this book as an anthology, with the hope that the collection of distinct and remarkable stories will give a little ‘faith lift’ to those who need encouragement in their walk with God.

About the Author

In late August 1951, Doug publicly confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized soon after at the Church of Christ in Lismore.

He seemed destined for ministry – in 1958 ministering at a church in the eastern wheat belt of Western Australia. Not long after conducting tent missions he was drawn to the United States to team up with Reggie Thomas – a wonderful God-used evangelist. Since then this team has shared a ministry in world evangelism.

From the Pits to the Pinnacles

The true story of a boy’s less commonly travelled trek, through hardship and horrors, to a culminating fulfilment

Born in Adelaide in 1948, Jim began what was to become a journey of horrors, of character building, soul wearying, inescapable experiences.

By the time he was 15 he had lived at ten different addresses and started over at seven different schools. At age 15, he had lived enough torment and brutality, from his father, leaving behind, his father and his unfortunate oldest, now adult, brother. Jim still had much learning to do, through what was to be a very differently challenging, but in the end, rewarding and wonderfully satisfying culmination. Walk this amazing journey with Jim and learn how your own road, yet to be travelled, need not be mapped, by the road travelled, so far.
