Savage Beginnings

The Violent Birth of Australia

This story concerns the first couple of years of the first fleets departure from England to the newly discovered land of new south wales twelve thousand miles across the partly chartered waters of the most dangerous oceans of the world and the initial first years of settling into this vast and mysterious new land.

Intertwined into this adventurous expedition are the many interesting insights into the various characters who initiated the stepping stones of history. Giving us, who have followed, a window into the harshness and deprivation they had to endure. Two of the characters, Seamus Duffy and Mary Donaghue get thrown into this melting pot of characters. It follows the period in Ireland during and post ‘penal days’ when the English assert their gun-toting authority over the down-trodden Irish population, leading to the great famine of the mid 1700s, when the Irish population went from comfortably sustaining over eight million people to the decimated figure of around two and a half million fighting for existence through famine.

It covers the political and historical period when uprising was the catch-cry and savage repercussion was the inevitable outcome against such might of arms the english took to bear on the emaciated Irish and even their own kind.

Throughout the story shines the glow of hope from a defiant and unbeaten people who will never forsake their faith in a god whose image, though faded with oppression, is nevertheless seared into and onto the minds and hearts of a nation destined to leave their indelible mark on the history of the new world. An embryonic nation, whose time has not yet come, but who, in future annals will influence generations yet to come.

The Pub with No Beer and I

If you’re looking for a story of adventure and mis-adventure. Then look no further.

Sean Hampsey’s latest foray into titillating our sense of Daring -Do under the guise of, not so much, “a walk in the park”, but rather, “a ride in the dark”.

Takes us, (the reader) into a potpourri of adventurous affairs that has us teetering on the edge of our saddle’s, tangling with venomous snakes, ‘orinary’ wild horses, and wicked wenches, who only wish to devour us, midst their beguilement. In an attempt to steal from us our virgin worth. Shame on them! And shame on Sean, for putting us in that perilous position of decision. ‘Will I? or Won’t I?’ That is the question?

This follows on from his previous attempts to corrupt our sponge-like innocent, inquiring, minds. In his other works, My Brother Sean, The Spanish Connection, The Maori Conflict, Savage Beginnings, A month in the Life of A Sexually Active Irish Octogenarian, Journal of Destiny, Sum of the Women in My Life and A further nine months in the life of a Celibate Octogenarian. Watch out!

There is no end to this man’s evil intent to not only steal our hearts to his Irish/Australian Wit, but to steal our very souls and have us as devotees of his story-telling for life. Don’t trust him! If you value your virgin mind.

The Fairy Tale Trap

In her powerful follow up to A Cage Called Hope, counsellor and psychotherapist Shelley Murphy delves deeper into the subconscious patterns that sabotage our adult relationships. The Fairy Tale Trap is a raw and honest exploration of how childhood programming can lead to a cycle of disastrous romantic experiences.

Murphy bares her soul, sharing her own journey through childhood trauma, date rape, and domestic violence. With unflinching candour, she reveals how she finally broke free from the chains of her past and offers practical tools for readers to do the same.

Why do we keep falling for the wrong people? Why does history seem to repeat itself in our love lives? Murphy argues that our brains, wired for familiarity, may be leading us astray. She challenges readers to examine their own patterns and provides strategies to rewire our approach to love and relationships.

Part memoir, part self help guide, The Fairy Tale Trap is a must read for anyone who’s ever looked back on their romantic history and wondered, ‘What was I thinking?’ Murphy’s insights will help you understand the dance of love you’ve been stuck in and show you how to choreograph a new one.

Provocative, enlightening, and ultimately packed with practical tips, The Fairy Tale Trap is your roadmap to breaking free from destructive patterns and creating the loving relationships you truly deserve.

Testimonials for

‘A Cage Called Hope’

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It felt like Shelley was my personal coach and mentor throughout. Her gentle, caring and humorous personality comes across beautifully. Her personal life experience along with her professional knowledge and skills combine to express an important message in a down to earth way; We don’t need to tolerate toxic people and situations! As a professional I could hear the voices of many of my clients in her descriptions of core beliefs and typical experiences of people in toxic relationships, and it will be going on my recommended reading list. Shelley walks alongside the reader throughout this book, shining a light on what many of us put up with and believe about ourselves and life, and encouraging us to demand better, and change the old programming to create a healthier, happier life.

A lovely read that helped me separate myself from my critical inner voice and to take different action rather than hope things that I actually have no control over will change. I really liked Shelley‘s ‘real’ voice – she writes like she talks and this is a style I access very easily. Highly recommend as an easy to read and understand book that has a beautiful, accessible message that change is absolutely possible.

A beautiful short read that I did not put down.
As a 57 year old man I had been having a crisis with a life partner that I deeply care for but was making self-sacrifices and allowing behaviors
that I should not have been allowing. I had been blaming myself as I assumed that it was my fault.
It gave me the insight and then strength to think through my situation and make decisions that allowed me to get back in touch with myself.
To realize that “Hope is not a strategy” and to end up in a better place I needed a plan and a path.
I do not know where my life will end up but I now can hope with a path which is sooooo much better a place to be.

I cannot recommend this book enough! Each and every page I read made such sense and has enabled me to adapt to thinking and reacting differently, which has improved not only my relationship but my own mental health.
The name of your chapters always lead me to keep reading.
Life is quite simple really when we break it down as Shelley has in this book.
Thank you 🤗
