Our Dreaming
Our Dreaming is a haunting tale of trauma, faith, and the fragile bond between people and the spirit of their country
At the foot of the Blue Mountains, young Arthur Cooke runs from a home torn apart by violence and finds refuge in an unlikely place—a zoo where the animals can speak. Among them is Gali, a wise red kangaroo who teaches him the ancient stories of the Dreamtime.
But the Dreaming is more than myth. As Arthur grows, strange visions, vengeful spirits, and a whispering serpent reveal a world on the edge of collapse. When a supernatural disaster strikes Australia, Arthur and Gali are drawn into a struggle between humankind and the ancient powers of the land.
As secrets surface and loyalties are tested, Arthur must face a terrible truth about his mentor—and about himself.
About the Author
From childhood, Nathan Bernacki has had a passion for history and fantasy and he delves deeper when others would turn away. His stories reflect that with roots in the twilight zone between what has happened and what will never happen.
A keen optimist, Nathan likes to write stories about division and silence and how people can overcome that. His first novel, Our Dreaming, is rooted in his desire to see a world where people confront history without fear or vitriol.
Nathan lives in Western Sydney with his family and when he has no chores, he lets his imagination run wild when writing stories.
