The Abandoned Poet

Shade of all shades, many sights go unseen still beckoned in confusion, of a most stormy dream.

These eyes will shut, the light will cut upon opening; an unexplored valley of shock and disbelief, of many streams coping. Comfort mixed with fear… I do remember, the angry fire in one’s heart, an inextinguishable ember.

About the Author

After a young life, of almost impossible horror; my heart still never stopped beating for others. I stood up, with my head held down and later held high, tackling everything horrific in life, as I had no choice to and others shied away from the horror. Once I’d beaten just about everything the world could possibly throw at me, in agony, physical, emotional, mental and psychological torment of complexities I never stopped or had a peaceful day in my life… I didn’t understand why these things were happening to me… I didn’t deserve it and I was simply an innocent and bright eyed child who just wanted to frolic in the garden, reaching out my hand for love and friendship. So, I set out on a mission. Knowing I’d be sacrificing my life as a child, teenager and in adulthood with chronic alcoholism and chain smoking, just to barely get through these situations, I realized that no one around me was listening as I reached out for help for years. So, through my writing, I decided to help others. I dislike the world we live in and I didn’t just want a better future for myself… I wished the entire world, to have a safe and fear free future even though my future is now limited. I set out on a suicide mission in life by using my vices to face my fears, knowing the inevitable would be tragic from a young age. No one was willing to change the world and someone had to do it, at all costs no matter what the consequences may be. I fight for truth… I fight for justice… I fight for you… I am…

For whatever reason, life has a habit of putting everyone under the microscope and exposing every weak point possibly imaginable. The microscope exposes flaws, insecurities, fears, self-doubt, anger, rage and much more… The questionable nature of why we’re here and why the pain won’t stop no-matter which approach is taken is a mystery to all of us. Just knowing there’s no way out and nowhere to hide, as the miserable world around us tries to take us down with them kicking and screaming. The sick, the perverted (to whom tread no lines of boundaries or right or wrong), the greedy, the cruel, the violent and the utterly shocking! Many people have found all of this out, the hardest way possible…

Welcome to The Abandoned Poet and brace yourself, for a journey like no other…

About the Author

My experience and adventures as a primary school teacher during the last decade inspired me to target the seven to eleven age bracket. Communication with students about my new book gave me sufficient feedback to feel that the ‘Terence the Turkey’ series would be well received by the young generation.

This book consists of short stories , with most adventures taking place on a farm with a variety of animals. The main character is off course Terence, and he is well supported by others like Gopher the goose, Baby the bull, Patrick the pig, Ernie the eagle, Gerald the goat, Uncle Murdock, the Fearfeathers, Aunt Suzie the swan, and many others.

My main idea is to tell interesting, and some funny stories in every chapter. Each story concludes with a ‘FUNSHEET’, and hopefully this will get the children’s attention!

The ‘fun sheet’ includes a Bible scriptures, life lessons, vocabulary, and interesting facts. There will be questions and quizzes, and all the answers will be provided at the back of the book.

About the Author

In a past life, not so long ago, I spent my days laying pavers, building retaining walls and designing gardens. For large parts of each day, there was just me and Jono, looking for any conversation to kill the time as we traipsed back and forward doing the repetitive grunt work. Jono’s glorious brainchild was a book he intended to write entitled 101 Uses for Pavelok; the magical gap filling sand. From that first idea, we began solving many of life’s most pressing issues with appropriately themed books.

Several years passed, and through each twist and turn, it became increasingly obvious to me that I needed to start writing. In learning the art, I have written a number of short stories about whatever inspired me at the time, one such inspiration being The Empty Nested Dragon. The story draws on bits and pieces of a thousand conversations with Jono, and like most stories I write, I have no idea what it all means until I reach the final paragraph. That has been the most rewarding part of what I take from writing. Discovering that even the most nonsensical conversations can amount to something meaningful… to me, anyway.

A Wrestling Memoir

Pulling no punches. Setting the record straight on Australian wrestling culture in the 2010’s.

Matthew Borg’s wrestling career began in 2011 and ended in 2015. This memoir is a rundown of Borg’s time in the so-called “fake” sport of professional wrestling: the good, the bad and everything else in between.

This leaves one to ponder … is the world of professional wrestling really what it seems?

One night, specifically that of July 31, 2013, I was home alone in the lounge room watching Channel 7’s AFL documentary The Inside Man. A 60 Minutes style expose on the now infamous Essendon drug scandal wherein Luke Darcy sat down with former Essendon strength and conditioning coach Dean Robinson in an exclusive one-on-one interview. Robinson unflinchingly dished the dirt on what happened behind closed doors and the longer the interview went on, the more I could empathise with his firmly held beliefs in his pursuit for natural justice and by the end, I had no reason whatsoever to doubt his version of events.

I did not know it on the first occasion I watched in 2013, but it was to be this hour and a half of gripping television that when watched again later, would provide the impetus for what is to follow.

To be crystal clear, what you will not be reading is an in-depth look at my entire life – that is another story to be told later down the line. What you will be reading instead is an entire rundown of my time in the so-called “fake” sport of professional wrestling.
