Hardy

This is a story about an Angus bull.

About the Author

Dianne was inspired to write Hardy’s story after reading a small article in her local paper. The events in the book really happened. In times of natural disasters people often feel helpless, however strength and spirit can also be found especially when love and compassion is shown by others.

About the Illustrator

Phillippa Augl was intrigued when she first read the story of Hardy and began the illustrations rather spontaneously with quick sketches. It was a good opportunity to develop new techniques and ideas. Those rough illustrations were then scanned and with a little help from her granddaughters she fine tuned them on the computer.

Phillippa loves drawing and painting. Creating pictures from words is simply fun.

Greymoon River Road

After their rather acrimonious separation, Alexis Smythe and her ex-partner Martin Thompson find themselves in both the Lonsdale Magistrates Court and the Family Law Court in Lansborough, attempting to resolve the issues surrounding their eight year old twins.

Alexis’s mother Danielle is in a partnership with the owners of the Foster Real Estate Agency in the future development of a retirement village in Greymoon River Road, near Austenville.

Martin’s brother Justin owns the Thompson Real Estate Agency in Austenville, after taking over the business from his parents Denis and Jean.

Tensions have always simmered between the Foster and Thompson families since a disputed land deal two generations ago. The very same land that the planned retirement village is to be built on.

While Alexis and Martin are battling it out in the Courts, Denis Thompson takes one of his grandsons, Jeremy, out to Greymoon River Road to explore the disputed bushland. They use old maps from the local museum, where Denis is a volunteer guide, and discover something that now draws Alexis and Danielle into the ongoing feud between the two warring families.

Girls are Pearls: One Woman’s Act of Resistance to Despair

Heather Anne Bloom must be read with a couple of health warnings! First of all, the narrative of her life will make you re-examine your own, or at least that was so when I sat and read this book. She writes with such a measure of self reflection and self understanding, and with doses of humour about the circumstances that led her to India, and to doing something about her particular passion for promoting the well being of girls and young women. Her story is a salutary reminder that adversity offers no excuses, and the much more is yet to be done if all are to have the opportunity to live with dignity and develop their God given talents. Yet it shows that the efforts of one with a band of friends can make a real difference. There is a lightness of touch about the way Heather speaks of her achievements that is at once attractive and challenging. This is a book that will warm your heart while at the same time make your armchair less comfortable !

And the second health warning? It’s this: read Heather’s story and you will want to book your own flight for an adventure in India!
