My Dad Can

My Dad Can is a children’s book that celebrates all the wonderful things “my dad” can do, regardless of his circumstances. He can do some clever things, some practical things, some fun things – all sorts of things!

Our attitude, not our disability determines how we live and even though there are things we can’t do, there are many things we CAN. Enjoy this motivational story and explore the world of “I can”.

About the Author

I am a busy mum of two teenage boys. My husband is a T4/5 paraplegic and I am constantly amazed at the number of things he CAN do even though he only has use of his arms. After being in a wheelchair for over 30 years, he still finds the energy and ability to interact with our boys. Being in a chair hardly holds him back! One night, while dinner was simmering on the stove, I decided to put pen to paper. I wanted to focus on all the wonderful things my husband can do instead of dwelling on the things he can’t.

We do many things together as a family and don’t let the “cannots” spoil our fun. Our two amazing boys are always helpful, energetic and full of love for both of us as their parents. They don’t judge us on our abilities or inabilities.

Bridging the Gap

Bridging the Gap explores our cultural differences and their profound impact on generational relationships. While older generations cling to traditional customs, younger Muslims navigate the complexities of Western influence, resulting in a divergence of values and beliefs.

Through anecdotes and scholarly insights, the book delves into the pivotal role of grandparents in migrant families, illuminating how they serve as custodians of cultural heritage and sources of wisdom.

By fostering understanding and dialogue, it charts a path towards reconciliation, where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously in the ever-evolving tapestry of Islamic identity.

How Low Can You Go?

Nutritious meals from $30 per week

This book has over 80 recipes that prove it can be down. Yet this is more than a recipe book. It is a book for our times, giving you the edge in a crisis. You will learn what foods to buy and when, supermarket psychology and how to stay ahead of the game when things change. There are tricks for when a favourite food becomes expensive and ideas on free foods that might be right underneath your feet.

Just how low can you go? For most of us, 40% of what we currently spend on food.

A family of four can feed themselves for $90 per week.

When Kimberley Gillan stopped work due to illness, drastic changes were needed for her family to keep a roof over their heads. The challenge was, how low could she go on groceries, while providing the 17 more essential vitamins and minerals her family needed and still having weekly treats, snacks, and celebrations. Over seven years of trial and error she learnt more than how to survive; she learnt a recipe for a better life.

Here it is, a set of instructions on how to play the grocery game and win.
