Listening Silences
Somewhere, I am listening
Listening Silences is a collection of poems gathered over many years, shaped by journeys across cities, countries, cultures, seasons of life, and moments of quiet reflection.
Moving between India and Australia, memory and belonging, childhood and motherhood, these poems explore the spaces where identity is formed and stories endure. Ordinary moments become entry points into larger questions of home, migration, family, language, loss, and connection.
With warmth, observation, and gentle honesty, Saloni Shah invites readers to pause and listen to the silences that live between words, across generations, and within ourselves. Here, silence is not emptiness but a place where memories breathe, roots deepen, and belonging finds its voice.
And if you listen closely enough, silence tells us who we have been, and who we are becoming.
About the Author
SALONI SHAH is a poet, storyteller, and listener based in Adelaide, Australia. Born and raised in Palanpur, India, she has been writing since childhood, drawn to the quiet stories hidden within everyday life. Shaped by family, migration, education, and a career in technology, her poetry explores silence, memory, belonging, compassion, and becoming.
She is fascinated by the way small, often-overlooked moments linger in the heart and reveal deeper truths, and her work listens closely to the spaces between speech and silence.
Listening Silences is her first poetry collection.
