i would sing outside the shower
i would lullaby my memories
i would soak up the power,
and i would speak my mind.
but i don’t
so instead i made a choice
that if i had a voice
was never one to be heard
something inside me purred
“at least it may be read”
because maybe i’d save some savaged soul instead
of bleeding them out on the drying ground
where my deceptions and brutality were found
maybe i can give them a voice
maybe they wouldn’t make that choice
